A 1940s Casserole Hack! ✨🙂 Does anyone else randomly surf allrecipes still or am I the only one stuck in 2010? 😁🤣 Either way, I found this 1940s casserole and it was an instant winner at my house!! And it was super low cost with hardly a mess to boot 🥾
Recipe:
1 pound ground beef
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
2-3 teaspoons white sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 (8-10 ounce) package egg noodles
1 cup sour cream, room temp
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 onion
½ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1. Cook ground beef and drain any fat.
2. Add tomato sauce, garlic powder, sugar and salt. Simmer for around 20 mins
3. While it simmers cook egg noodles, cook them a minute under the time so they arent too soggy
4. Preheat oven to 350
5. Grate onion into a bowl, add room temp sour cream and cream cheese. Mix well.
6. Layer 1/2 of the egg noodles into the prepared casserole dish. Top with 1/2 of the sour cream mixture, then 1/2 of the ground beef mixture. Repeat layers once more. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese over top.
7. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
