THIS IS THE BEST Greek Salad Recipe! 🙌🏻
We recently went on vacation in Seattle and had the best Greek Salad we have ever had at Ray’s Cafe!
Once I got home I was dying to try and recreate it. The dressing was so delicious! I've been experimenting with countless different versions, and I think I finally nailed it. It's the perfect balance of tangy with just a hint of sweetness.
I like to soak my romaine in ice water, it crisps it up and also will remove any bitter flavors.
They cut the cucumbers into these perfect like flat mini spears, which made for such an interesting bite.
I love the red onion in this salad, it adds such a peppery burst to each bite!
Greek salad is a classic dish that's as refreshing as it is delicious. The combination of crisp vegetables, tangy feta cheese, and a flavorful dressing makes it a perfect side dish or even a light meal on its own.
While tomatoes are a common ingredient in Greek salad, I've created a delicious variation that omits them, allowing the other flavors to shine... Ok I'm just not a tomato person. Add them if you want tomatoes!
We also had the BEST Fish and Chips there! These pics are making me drool!!! I probably won't attempt to recreate the Fish n Chips, as there's no way I can get Cod that fresh in Iowa! 😂
Here's my perfected Greek Salad Recipe!
Greek Salad Recipe:
Greek Dressing:
1.5 Cups Oil (Neutral, I go with avocado, canola or vegetable)
1 Tablespoons + 1 Teaspoons Garlic Powder
1 Tablespoons + 1 Teaspoons Oregano
1 Tablespoons + 1 Teaspoons Basil
1 Tablespoons Pepper
1 T Kosher Salt
1 T Onion powder
1 T Dijon-style mustard
1 T Sugar
3/4 C Red Wine Vinegar
Salad:
Romaine
Feta Cheese
Half a red onion, slivered
English Cucumber, flat spears
Kalamata Olives (could also use black olives)
Tomatoes (I left these out)
Instructions:
Make the Dressing: In a jar or bowl, whisk together all dressing ingredients. I like to make this one day ahead of time or the night before, it's how the dressing flavors truly come alive. But if you forget try to make it at least an hour before using.
Assemble the Salad: In a large bowl, combine romaine lettuce, feta cheese, red onion, cucumber, olives, and tomatoes (if using). TIP: I like to soak my romaine in ice water then spin it dry.
Toss and Serve: Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to coat evenly. Serve immediately.
Tips:
Make-Ahead Option: Prepare the dressing in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Assemble the salad just before serving to keep the vegetables crisp.
Customize Your Salad: Feel free to add or subtract ingredients based on your preferences. Other popular additions include bell peppers, chickpeas, or hearts of romaine.
Dietary Considerations: For a vegan option, use a vegan feta cheese.
