Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 15 ounce cans tomato sauce
  • 2-3 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1 8-10 ounce package egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream room temp
  • 3 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 onion
  • ½ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Cook ground beef and drain any fat.
  • Add tomato sauce, garlic powder, sugar and salt. Simmer for around 20 mins
  • While it simmers cook egg noodles, cook them a minute under the time so they arent too soggy
  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Grate onion into a bowl, add room temp sour cream and cream cheese. Mix well.
  • Layer 1/2 of the egg noodles into the prepared casserole dish. Top with 1/2 of the sour cream mixture, then 1/2 of the ground beef mixture. Repeat layers once more. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese over top.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes.

  1. Anyone tried this substituting beef broth for tomato sauce ? I have a friend who does not like tomatoes, but she has a freezer of ground beef to use, so she needs recipes.
