Instructions

Bread:

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped, mixed with 2 tbsp. granulated sugar & 1 tsp. cinnamon

Old-Fashioned Glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-3 tbsp milk
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • Whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and baking powder in a separate bowl. Gradually incorporate into wet ingredients alternating with milk.
  • Layer: Pour half the batter into prepared loaf pan. Top with half the apple mixture, then sprinkle with half the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. Repeat layers.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool slightly before drizzling with powdered sugar glaze.
